Red, white and blue fans were left to applaud the USMNT after Friday’s 0-0 draw with England, with Christian Pulisic admitting their support in Qatar ‘just so helps us move forward’.

Footage filmed by Sportsmail reporter Kathryn Batte from Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor showed thousands of American fans dressed mostly in red and white stripes waving American flags at their country’s players, who applauded them in in exchange for their invaluable cheer from the stands.

“Today was great,” Pulisic said of his tactics to whip up the American crowd when he took corner kicks in Friday’s game. “Just seeing all the American fans and the way they cheered, it pushed us forward so much.”

“We’re so thankful and we’re thankful for everyone at home watching and just all the support.”

Asked about his findings of the goalless result, the USA-Chelsea winger told Fox Sports’ Jenny Taft: “I think there were a lot of positives.”

“We even had moments in the first half where we seemed dominant and created some chances, but unfortunately couldn’t finish some of them. We led the game quite well and you know, to come away with a draw against them is obviously a pretty good result, but we felt like we could have even won the game.’

Looking back at England hitting the crossbar in the first half, the 24-year-old said he and his team-mates “just need to be a little more clinical and just keep being aggressive and keep creating more and more chances.”

Aware that the team is now in control of its destiny ahead of the final Group B match against Iran, Pulisic revealed what he expects from himself and his teammates.

“It’s all about winning the game, so we have to be very aggressive, win the game and move on to the next round. I’m confident we can do it.’

Despite being man of the match against England, Pulisic expects nothing but a win vs. Iran

The US will play Iran on Tuesday for a place in the round of 16. Iran previously defeated Wales 2-0 and is second in Group B with three points, one more than the Americans.

A win against the US would have taken England to the knockout stages, but the Three Lions rarely seemed to be in control. The supporters were ready to celebrate a late winner when Harry Kane came close to scoring with a header in stoppage time.

“It certainly wasn’t the best performance,” said Kane. “Good spells with the ball, but we didn’t quite have the final product. Clean sheet puts us in a great position in the group.

“We had two or three chances and didn’t give them away.”
