World Cup skier Jean Daniel Pession and his girlfriend fall 2,300ft to their death after tragic mountain accident
Skier Jean Daniel Pession and his girlfriend, Elisa Arlian, tragically died after falling more than 200 feet down a mountain in Italy.
Pession, only 28, previously finished 15th in the final rankings of the Ski World Cup. The Italian Winter Sports Federation confirmed the terrible news this weekend.
‘A terrible tragedy has struck the world of winter sports and speed skiing in particular. Jean Daniel Pession, a twenty-eight year old World Cup team member, lost his life in a tragic mountain accident above Champoluc (Ao). His girlfriend also died along with Pession,” the federation said in a statement.
‘Over the course of his career, the native of the Aosta Valley had achieved the best results in 2021, with fifteenth place in the final World Cup rankings, while at the 2022 World Championships in Vars he finished 22nd.
“President Flavio Roda and the entire Federation express their condolences to the Pession family for this tragic accident.”
