Following the conclusion of the competitive phase of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the match officials for the semi-finals. In the first semi-final, table toppers India will take on fourth-placed New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium on November 15 (Wednesday). In the second semi-final, Australia will lock horns with South Africa at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on November 16 (Thursday).
England’s Richard Illingworth and Australia’s Rod Tucker will be the on-field referees during the semi-final between India and New Zealand. While England’s Richard Kettleborough and India’s Nitin Menon will officiate the match between Australia and South Africa.

Rod Tucker will feature in his 100th ODI during the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup semi-final between India and New Zealand.
Notably, Illingworth was also an on-field umpire during the World India vs New Zealand 2019 semi-final when the Kiwis won by 18 runs in a weather-affected match spread over two days at Old Trafford, with Tucker serving as the third umpire used to be.
Tucker featured in his first ODI in January 2009 and will be joined by third umpire Joel Wilson, fourth umpire Adrian Holdstock and match referee Andy Pycroft for his historic match.

Richard Kettleborough has also reached a century of ODIs in this competition and will add to his tally when he oversees the second semi-final between Australia and South Africa in Kolkata.
Kettleborough’s milestone came when the Netherlands played Sri Lanka on October 21, and this will be the third World Cup in a row in which he would have faced a semi-final.
He will be assisted on the field by Nitin Menon, who is officiating in his first World Cup, while Chris Gaffaney will act as the third referee. Michael Gough (fourth referee) and Javagal Srinath (match referee) complete the quintet.
