Worker rushed to hospital after being trampled by cows at an abattoir in Geelong

A young man has been seriously injured in a terrible workplace accident at a slaughterhouse.

The 20-year-old worker was in a cattle truck at the construction site in the Geelong suburb of Corio on Sunday afternoon when he was trampled by cows.

Emergency services arrived on scene and managed to climb into the truck to treat the patient for serious injuries to his upper body.

The horrific workplace accident took place at a slaughterhouse in Geelong, southwest of Melbourne

He was then rushed to the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where his condition was said to be serious but stable.

WorkSafe Victoria has now been notified and has launched an investigation into the incident to determine if further action is required.
