Residents of a Perth suburb have been warned to lock their doors as specialist police respond to an ongoing gun incident.

Police are responding to a firearms incident near the intersection of Needham Road and Marauba Close, in Wooroloo, about 55km east of Perth’s CBD.

There is a significant police presence in the area, including several specialist units.

An early report suggests a man was shot in the area, prompting paramedics and a rescue helicopter to respond.

Residents are advised to stay indoors and keep their doors locked as the situation develops.

Any suspicious activity must be reported to the police immediately on triple-0.
