A Woolworths worker has revealed what he believes to be the true purpose of a little-known trolley hook, but many say they’ve been using it for an entirely different reason.

Sydney employee Liam Kirley revealed that the easy-to-lose hook under the handlebars at the rear of the trolley is designed to store your hat or reusable Woolworths bags.

However, many buyers disagreed, admitting that they have been using the hook to store roasted chooks.

“Here’s a Woolworths trolley bus,” Liam said when sharing the TikTok.

“All Woolworths trolleys have a complimentary hook so you can hang your hat or reusable bags.”

He said the hook is useful since you don’t have to carry the bags around the store and they are still easily accessible.

Many shoppers believed that the hook was specifically designed to hold a rotisserie chicken so that it was away from cold items.

For the third trick, the worker demonstrated a useful way to store the bags to ensure they last longer.

She lifted the bottom of the bag up, then placed it on itself for neat storage.

“If you fold your reusable bags like this, you’ll get a longer shelf life,” he said.

The bags themselves are 99 cents each and Woolworths will replace them if they’re damaged.
