A Victorian mother has urged other parents to return a popular toy to Woolworths after her son was injured while using it.

The woman says her seven-year-old son spent two days in hospital after he collapsed while being pushed and part of the cart pierced his skin.

She says a rounded hook (pictured) from a toy resembling a Woolworths shopping cart stabbed her son in the arm.
Woolworths is investigating the incident, a spokesperson told NCA Newswire.
“We can understand how worrying this is for the mother of the child,” the spokesperson said.
“We have spoken with the client and we apologize for what happened.
“As a result, we have asked the customer to return the cart to their local store and we will be able to complete an internal investigation on the product.”
The mother said her family had been “inches away from losing him.”
The toy (pictured) has been sold to customers by Woolworths for over two years.
“We are very lucky because it was very close to fatal,” he said on Facebook.
She says the rounded hook that holds the cart parts together caused the injury.
“There is nothing holding them together, they are super dangerous,” he said.
“Kids can take them apart however they want.”
Woolworths has stocked the cart for more than two years, and NCA Newswire understands that the supermarket has not been made aware of any similar complaints.
