Awkward gaffe spotted on Woolworths Anzac Day cake – but that’s not what’s getting shoppers riled up about the bakery buy

Woolworths shoppers spotted an ’embarrassing’ Anzac blunder in the supermarket’s bakery section.

A customer found a Woolies mud cake with the words ‘Lets we Forget’ instead of the familiar phrase ‘Lest we Forte’.

However, others took aim at the supermarket, calling it ‘shameless’ for ‘trying to take advantage’ of the Remembrance Day.

The Daily Mail Australia has learned that Woolworths is not selling ‘Lest we Forget’ mudcakes.

The Woolworths in-store baking team occasionally takes customer decoration requests for its popular mudcakes.

A stunned customer shared an image of the chocolate cake with the word ‘Lets instead of ‘Lest’ on Reddit, angering hundreds of people.

“Nothing celebrates the Anzacs better than a cheap mudcake from Woolies,” one user joked.

“Still better than ‘happy Anzac day’,” a second commented.

But it wasn’t the typo that offended Australians. Many thought the cake had ‘bad taste’.

‘Who actually buys a cake for Anzac Day? It’s not a party,” one user commented, and another agreed: “Even without the typo, the whole idea is kind of tacky.”

However, many took aim at the supermarket, calling it 'shameless' for 'trying to take advantage' of the Remembrance Day.

“All jokes aside, this is really bad behavior from Woolworths. They are trying to cash in on what is meant to be a respectful and dignified event, but they haven’t even managed to get the right message across,” said a third.

One customer thought there was more to the failed Anzac cake.

“I’m going to say this is probably a rouge employee who thinks they’re doing something ‘noble’ but completely misinterprets the ‘ambiance’ of Anzac Day,” they explained.
