Wonder Woman 3 won’t make any headway in the rebooted DC Universe – despite star Gal Gadot claiming the project was green-lighted by studio heads James Gunn and Peter Safran.
The development of Wonder Woman 3 was first revealed to the public in 2019, and while the film was greenlit in 2020, director Patty Jenkins was eventually dropped from the project after Gunn and Safran restructured the DC Extended Universe.
Now Variety Sources report that Wonder Woman 3 “is not in development at DC Studios, nor do Gunn and Safran currently have any plans for a Wonder Woman project in the new DC Universe other than their previously announced Paradise Lost prequel series for Max.”
This comes despite a recent interview from Show off Magazine, in which Gadot insisted that Gunn and Safran planned to move forward with the third Wonder Woman film.
She said, “I was invited to meet with James Gunn and Peter Safran and what they told me, and I quote, “You’re in the best hands. We’re going to develop Wonder Woman 3 with you.” We) love you as Wonder Woman – nothing to worry about.” So time will tell.”

Gadot told me earlier this month ComicBook. com: ‘I love Wonder Woman. It is so near and dear to my heart.”
“From what I’ve heard from James and Peter, we’re going to be developing a Wonder Woman 3 together.”
DailyMail.com has reached out to Gal Gadot representatives for comment.
In December, it was reported that Wonder Woman 3 was being scrapped after director Jenkins — who helmed the first two female-led superhero films — rejected studio notes about her treatment for the sequel, leading to her leaving the project, according to The cover.
According to sources, Jenkins had turned in her treatment last week and was not well received by studio execs.
The co-chairmen and CEOs of Warner Bros. Film Group, Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy were cited as those who rejected Jenkins’ treatment and did not intend to “proceed with the film in its current iteration”.
It was also alleged that the studio’s new CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran agreed that Jenkins’ version of the film was not working.
This was communicated to Jenkins and De Luca and Abdy wondered if the director would be willing to steer the sequel in a different direction.
It was alleged that the couple’s offer was declined by Jenkins and she accused them of not understanding her vision or Wonder Woman’s trajectory as a whole.

Gadot first portrayed the DC Comics superheroine in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
The character was previously played by Lynda Carter on the television series Wonder Woman, which ran from 1975 to 1979.
The first Wonder Woman movie debuted in 2017 and opened with a massive opening weekend of $103 million en route to $412 million domestically and $822 million worldwide.
The artist reprized the role for a second time that year in Justice League, starring alongside Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, and Jason Momoa.
The 2020 sequel Wonder Woman 1984 wasn’t nearly as big of a hit as its predecessor, thanks in large part to a decimated theatrical environment due to COVID-19.
The sequel only grossed $46.8 million in the domestic and $122.8 million in the foreign market for a worldwide gross of $169.6 million, while also simultaneously releasing the sequel on the HBO Max streaming service.
