Women's share in life insurance increases to 34.2% in 2022-2023: IRDAI report
Of the total 28.4 million policies sold by the insurers during 2022-2023, the share of women's life insurance by private companies increased to 30.13 percent, compared to 29 percent in 2021-2022. On the other hand, the share of women insured by the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) fell to 35.81 percent from 36 percent a year earlier.
According to the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority's 2023 annual report, the number of policies sold to women was about 9.73 million, accounting for 34.20 percent of the total.
