Women with long hair have more sex than ladies with shorter cuts, research shows

  • Married women with long hair have sex more often than women with short hair
  • Long hair can increase the perception of attractiveness and enhance sexual desire

From Rapunzel to Venus, women have been depicted with long, silky hair for centuries.

Now a study has found a surprising link between women’s hair and their sex lives.

Researchers from Yonsei University in South Korea say married women with long, high-quality hair have sex more often than women with shorter crops.

The team suggests that long hair can increase men’s perception of their wives’ attractiveness and increase their sexual desire for them.

However, it’s bad news for men with wavy locks: Men’s hair length has no influence on the frequency of sex.

Previous studies have suggested that women’s hair is a symbolic expression of femininity.

For example, in Botticelli’s famous painting, The Birth of Venus, the goddess of love and beauty is depicted with long hair flowing in the wind.

However, until now, little research has been done on how hair affects romantic relationships.

“Because no research has examined the link between women’s hair and frequency or sexual desire, it remains unknown whether women’s hair can influence their sex lives,” the team, led by Jeong Eun Cheon, wrote in their research, published in Evolutionary psychology.

To answer this question, the team recruited 204 married couples from South Korea.

The couples were asked about their hair quality, hair length, attractiveness, sexual desire, sexual frequency, perceived partner involvement, relationship satisfaction and sexual satisfaction.

Previous studies have suggested that women’s hair is a symbolic expression of femininity. For example, Botticelli’s famous painting, The Birth of Venus, depicts the goddess of love and beauty with long hair flowing in the wind.

The results revealed a significant correlation between women’s hair quality and sexual frequency.

“Men found women with longer hair more attractive, which resulted in increased sexual desire among men,” the team explained.

‘This increased sexual desire was again associated with an increased likelihood of more frequent intercourse within the couples.’

Based on the findings, the researchers encourage women to invest in hair care if they want to improve their sex lives.

“Our research implies that the investments women make in their hair care and grooming may be indicative of their importance in attracting and retaining romantic partners,” the team added.

‘Understanding the interplay between physical attractiveness, sexual desire and sexual activity contributes to a more comprehensive understanding of human behavior and relationships.’
