A desperate police call to find two suspected stroller thieves caught walking out of a store with a brand new stroller has ended after their plea received widespread attention on Facebook.

Police said the two women walked into the Baby Bunting store on Albany Highway in the southern Perth suburb of Cannington just before 3pm on February 18.

CCTV footage from the store showed the women casually strolling into the store with an old stroller and a baby in it.

The two women allegedly took a new stroller off the shelf before tearing off the tickets and transferring the baby from the old stroller to the new stroller.

The pair then allegedly left the old stroller in the store before confidently exiting the store’s main entrance with the new stroller and baby.

After two weeks of investigation, police failed to identify the two women and turned to Facebook for help.

Western Australia Police posted screenshots of the Baby Bunting store and appealed to the public for help in tracking it down.

Despite the Facebook post being filled with comments about their appearance, a Western Australia Police spokeswoman confirmed they had identified the pair on Monday afternoon.

“Several people have provided Crime Stoppers with information that has been forwarded to detectives,” said the police spokeswoman.

“If there is enough evidence to press charges, they will most likely be charged with theft.”

Police had previously used local radio to try to find the two women, who asked for help in an interview with ‘Burgo’ on 6iX on Saturday morning.
