Woman’s bold act divides Aussies after neighbour left her pool looking like a ‘swamp’

A woman angry about her neighbour’s unattended swimming pool turning into a ‘swamp’ and breeding mosquitoes has taken matters into her own hands by dumping chlorine into it.

The woman, who goes by the name Bogan Barbie on TikTok, said her neighbor’s pool had been neglected for at least a month.

She said the pool water had turned green and filled with leaves from surrounding trees, turning it into a “damn swamp” and a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

Many supported her online, while others questioned her right to invade her neighbor’s property and “fix” the pool.

Bogan Barbie filmed the inside of her house and looked at her neighbors’ garden. She said the pool had turned into a “king swamp” after the owner had been away for a month. It had produced ‘millions’ of mosquitoes

‘So the neighbor seems to be on holiday. Her pool turned into a fucking swamp,” the woman said in a video on TikTok.

“(It) sent millions of mosquitoes our way, so we jump the fence and put the cover on.”

Footage showed a backyard overrun with weeds and an unmown lawn, as well as a swimming pool covered in a thick layer of leaves.

The woman’s original plan to simply put the cover on proved impossible.

“We ended up not jumping the fence because the cover is behind another fence,” she said in a follow-up video.

Instead, she threw chlorine over the fence into the pool and said that resulted in ‘a a lot fewer mosquitoes – still a lot, but a lot fewer.”

Some social media users criticized the woman, claiming she should have handled the situation differently.

“Stuff happens while you’re on their property and you’re responsible for it,” one person wrote.

‘Call the municipality or your neighbor if you have numbers.’

A second added: ‘Not your pool, leave it alone unless you’re going to clean, repair or replace the cover after you put that filth on.’

“Like literally? Is that allowed?’ another wrote.

The woman hit back at her critics, saying she didn’t know if it was allowed.

‘It’s pool chlorine, so it can’t hurt. The brother showed up today and was grateful we did it,” she said.

The woman said the filter has since been turned back on after a power outage activated it.

Other social media users praised the woman for taking matters into her own hands.

“The whole top coat looks a million times better,” one person wrote.

‘Buy some mosquito tablets. It puts a layer of oil on the water and kills the eggs, throw them out of your garden,” another suggested.
