A woman was held captive and raped in a barn for more than four years after meeting a suspect nicknamed “Josef Fritzl from Poland” on a dating site, it is alleged.
The 30-year-old victim, known only as Malgorzata, met Mateusz J in 2019 through the dating site.
The woman, then in her twenties, travelled to visit him in the village of Gaiki, near Glogow in western Poland.
She was then reportedly held in an abandoned cattle pen, where she was regularly beaten, raped and mentally abused.
During her captivity, the victim was also impregnated by the 35-year-old suspect.

Malgorzata was reportedly kept in an abandoned animal stable and was regularly abused, raped and mentally abused.
He then took the victim to a nearby hospital to give birth, where she was forced to give up her child for adoption, local news channel myGlogow defeated.
“I couldn’t tell the doctors the truth, I was scared, and he threatened me that if I complained it would get worse,” the victim told the Telegraph.
Prosecutors said Malgorzota was held captive in a stone barn previously used to house animals, just four metres away from Mateusz J.’s unsuspecting neighbours.
They said that while captive in the stone structure with no light, she had no access to hygiene products, running water, a toilet, electricity or heating.
They added that he humiliated and controlled the victim, keeping her in complete isolation and only taking her outside with a hood over her eyes.
Locals describe the suspect, who was arrested this week and faces up to 25 years in prison for his crimes, as a “loner” and a “freak”.
The case has been compared to one of Austria’s most notorious crimes, when Josef Fritzl locked his daughter under his house.
