A woman has sparked debate online after revealing that her boyfriend told her she “should be more like a lady” because she farted in front of him.
A British woman took to Reddit to reveal she’s been going through rough times with her partner, who is “disgusted” by how much she farts, leading to a falling out and the two sleeping in different rooms.
The user – @throwaway1083672513 – posted to the “AmITheA**hole” subreddit on Aug. 18 seeking advice on the sharp issue that caused a rippling rift between the couple.
She said she wanted to “fart without judgment,” adding, “We got into a fight about it tonight because I accidentally farted in the kitchen.”
“I’m really tired of him treating me like what I’m doing is unnatural and always telling me I should be more of a lady.”

The after — captioned, “AITA for farting in front of my partner” — reveals how the unnamed woman, 24, and her male partner, 30, have been together for nearly two years but only recently moved in together.
She explained, “He’s been getting really frustrated with me lately because he says I fart too much at home and he hates it.
“I tend to fart a few times a night, and he gets super grumpy and accuses me of doing it on purpose (I didn’t).
“I feel like I should be able to fart in my own home without judgment.
“I told him I was tired of his attitude and that I was acting like I was a freak for doing something everyone else is doing.”
The woman went on to describe a shocking turn of events in their relationship, saying, “We’re in separate rooms now and not talking because of the fight.”
She asked, “Am I crazy for thinking that farting is normal?” AITA?’
The post received an overwhelmingly supportive response from Reddit users, with over 1,000 comments and nearly 900 upvotes.

One person stated, ‘NAT (Not The A**hole) – Lady fart. Everyone farts. Not being comfortable farting in your own house because this guy has some archaic belief that it’s not ladylike seems miserable.”
Another baffled user agreed, saying, “NTA, does he think women shit glitter? He sounds very stupid and also ridiculous. Make your point by panicking every time he farts/sneezes/burps so he sees how absurd he’s being.’
One user wrote, “He sounds like a guy who needs to get horny with a good pregnant fart.”
Another bewildered person asked, “Considering that you are living together, and this is a long-term thing, what should you do?” Never fart in front of him?’
Some people even responded with their own toxic testimonials, with one saying, “I spent nine years with someone who only pushed me too far in the bathroom or while I was sleeping.
The woman’s post received an overwhelmingly supportive response from Reddit users, with over 1,000 comments, telling her that it’s normal for women to fart
“He would look at me so disgusted and then embarrass me if I spent one. When I started dating after that, the first thing on my list of qualities to look for was someone I could fart in front of.”
However, one woman agreed with the partner’s perspective rather than that of the original poster.
She wrote, “I need to know how bad hers is because I might agree with her. My husband does it all the time and his is gross.
“They smell like rotten eggs and linger for HOURS. I get mad at him for doing it outside the bathroom, because it’s kind of hard to enjoy food when you’re smothered by the smell of rotten eggs.’
