A woman was mauled by a shark while swimming on a beach.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 11.50am on Monday following the attack on Jurien Bay Beach, in Western Australia.
The woman, in her forties, is said to have been bitten on the leg, with the extent of her injuries unknown.
A St John WA spokeswoman said an RAC rescue helicopter was on standby.
A spokesperson for the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development said an investigation had been launched.

“DPIRD is working with local authorities and further information will be provided as it becomes available,” he said.
A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Fire and Emergency Services said volunteer firefighters assisted with the incident.
