Woman shares bizarre hack that sees her adding birth control pill to her SHAMPOO to make her hair grow ‘super fast and thick’

A woman has revealed a highly controversial shampoo trick – she claims it leaves her locks healthier than ever.

Tita Tots, 27, from New York, has always had trouble growing her hair, but was tired of the damage caused by failed extensions.

After previously paying $1,000 for a set that failed a few days later, she has now found a new solution.

Tita says her Cuban grandmother recommended the bizarre home remedy: crushing birth control pills in her shampoo bottle.

In a video uploaded to Instagram, Tita explains the process to her 22,300 followers.

“My grandmother always told me to put birth control in (shampoo) and it will get thick and thick super fast, but I’ve never had birth control left over.

“She came to visit and brought me a pack, so I crushed up eight pills, put the shampoo in and used as usual.”

The influencer claims that the pills made the difference and now swears by the bizarre hack.

‘In three months my hair has never been so long and thick.

‘I still have half a bottle of shampoo. I just use it as normal (and) I probably have about 15 pills left in the pack, so if I run out I can do it again!

“One thing about (grandmothers) is that they have the craziest tricks that they swear by and honestly, most of them work.

“For me, I have the implant in my arm and I get birth control from my grandmother.

“She brought a bunch from Cuba especially for her hair.”

Instagram users, however, aren’t so convinced, with many sharing their shock at the method.

One user said: ‘Girl it costs $30 a month and I can only get one a month, I don’t have periods to get better hair.’

Another joked: ‘I’m currently cutting out the implant to put in my shampoo bottle.’

A third added: ‘Will I get the same results if I use my NuvaRing as a hair tie?’

Someone else commented, “I don’t think anyone just has eight to ten extra birth control pills to use on their hair. That’s strange. You know how expensive contraception can be.’

“Someone tell me if this is a joke because I want to try it,” said another.

Tita also recently visited her hairdresser and claims they were stunned by the rapid growth.

‘I went to my hairdresser recently and she was in disbelief.

‘She saw with her own eyes how damaged my hair was. She couldn’t believe how fast it grew and how fat and healthy it was!’

But Dr. Lawrence Cunningham has spoken out about the controversial hair growth method and warned that it is not all it is cracked up to be.

‘In my experience, there is no robust scientific evidence to support the claim that birth control pills applied to shampoo can promote hair growth or improve the health of your hair.

‘Oral contraceptives are designed to work within the body’s endocrine system, and their efficacy, as far as I have seen, is not linked to hair health when used in this way.

‘When I am asked about unconventional medicine use, I always advise caution.

‘The use of contraceptives in shampoo is not standard practice and there is a risk of skin irritation or even hormonal disturbances.’
