Woman reveals the VERY awkward workplace struggle she faces because of her NAME – and it will prompt parents to think twice before choosing a moniker

A woman scoffed at the recurring workplace struggle that plagues her whenever she starts a new job.

Samantha Hart, from Virginia, took to TikTok to reveal how she is ‘always’ left in an awkward position over the structure of email addresses.

The 27-year-old, who works in communications, said her usernames are shortened to ‘shart’ and the conversations she is then forced to have with HR ‘fill her with dread’.

But other social media users quickly flocked to the comments to declare that she was not alone as they shared their own inappropriate abbreviations.

‘I’ve had two professional jobs so far and at each workplace it was the email company structure.’

The content creator revealed that on both previous occasions, before walking into the office for the first time, she had been contacted by the HR department about how her name ‘didn’t exactly fit the company’s email structure as they had planned .’

She said that they offered her a different structure, to which she ‘always’ answers with a clear yes.

Samantha added: ‘I don’t want an email that says “shart”. Fix it. Give me something else.’

She explained that after doing her own research, she discovered that her new company would also need to adjust her username.

“I’m going to have another really awkward conversation with someone and at this point I feel like I’m just reaching out right off the bat and saying look, you’re not going to want my email to be this. You will want to give me something else.

“Or should I let them come to me, should I let them start the conversation,” Samantha asked.

The tired worker concluded: ‘It’s such a blessing to be me. Live laugh love, baby.’

And it turns out it’s a more common problem than you might think, as fellow social media users flocked to the comments.
