- The anonymous woman took to Reddit after her partner berated her for showering
- She has ‘longer thick hair’ that she conditioned – and she was also shaving
- Oddly enough, her partner stood up to her, even though she was the one paying the water bill
A woman was left stunned when her partner insulted her for taking too long in the shower, accusing her of wasting water.
“Are you tired of taking 26 minutes to shower?” the woman captioned a post on the infamous AmItheA**hole forum on Reddit.
“My partner got really upset about the time I was in the shower,” she began.
She explained that she has “longer, thicker hair” and that she took a “full body shower,” where she “washed her hair, conditioned her hair, shaved everything, washed her body and face and then left.”

“AITA for taking a 26 minute shower?” the woman captioned a post on Reddit’s infamous AmItheA**hole forum
“My partner said they left the tap running while I was in the shower and asked if I noticed how much water was wasted,” she continued.
“I asked how I could hear that sound while I was in the shower,” to which her partner replied, “Exactly.”
It was unclear what the point was of her partner leaving the tap running while she was showering.
She then looked at the number of songs from her playlist she had listened to while showering and calculated that she had showered for just over 25 minutes.
The woman further explained that only the two of them live in the house, which has two full bathrooms.
He had showered the night before, and she had showered this morning, and they “had no plans for the day.”
She clarifies: ‘I take a long shower once every three to four days. I don’t shower every day (because I work from home), but when I do, it takes me less than 10 minutes to wash my body and hair with shampoo.’
She then asked Reddit, “AITA you take 26 minutes to shower your entire body?” – AITA standing for “Am I The A**hole?”
In nearly 5,000 letters, the consensus was that the woman was not in the wrong, with many calling her NTA – an abbreviation for Not The A**hole
In the nearly 5,000 responses, there was broad consensus that the woman in this situation was NTA, which stands for Not The A**hole.
“NTA. He thinks you’re the AH for wasting water, but he left the water running the whole time? Worst. Water. Police. Ever,” stated one of the top voted responses.
A second said: ‘NTA. My boyfriend complained that his girlfriend showered too long, five minutes should be enough. I asked my other friends, a bald, hairy guy with bad skin and sometimes smelly skin, “how long do you shower?” “Five minutes,” he replied. He turned to my complaining friend, “So you want your girlfriend to look like him?” No more complaining.’
A third chimed in: ‘NTA. Your partner deliberately wasted water to “teach you a lesson.” This is scary logic, and two if you don’t pay the water bill, really really stupid. If you do pay the water bill, I would ask them to compensate you for wasting water.’
The woman responded that she was the one who paid the water bill, and that she still didn’t understand why her partner would run the sink next to her shower to make her point.
A fourth echoed: ‘NTA, that’s not a long shower to do your hair, shave etc. I shower for 15/20 minutes without washing my hair. And those who say you have to turn it off between each step… what and be freezing?’
A fifth agreed: ‘NTA. If you have long hair, it’s not long. But the problem is not the length of your shower. Your partner is not your owner and you are not his slave. You are equal partners. You get to decide for yourselves how long to shower.’
