A content creator showed up head over heels in front of her Hinge date who proposed as they walked through Madison Square Park.
Annika Osterlund, 21, posted a viral TikTok video on May 27, she said yes to a man’s proposal during their first date.
Osterlund’s date, who she did not identify in the video, got down on one knee and popped the question as the emotional TikToker smiled.
The newly engaged couple happily walked away, but Osterlund entered a follow-up TikTok video that she and her Hinge date weren’t getting married.
“I should probably preface this by saying we were both involved; we decided to do it together,” she wrote in the comments section of her proposal video.
Content creator Annika Osterland, 21, posted multiple TikTok videos yesterday focusing on a fake proposal she and her Hinge date made in Madison Square Park
Osterlund has regularly posted videos to her YouTube (@AnnikaOsterlund) and TikTok (@bigfishenergy) accounts for almost 10 years.
The Massachusetts native currently lives in New York, where her Hinge date jokingly proposed to her.
The two casually walked through Madison Square Park as Osterlund held a small bouquet of flowers before her date got down on one knee.
Many park visitors surrounding the two of them started cheering and clapping for them both after hearing her say yes to his fake marriage proposal.
Osterlund’s date then raised a fist in the air right after sharing what she revealed another TikTok video was their first kiss.
“If you saw me get engaged yesterday in Madison Square Park, know that this was a first Hinge date, and when we kissed after I said yes, it was the first time we had ever kissed,” she wrote in the video.
The unknown man in Osterlund’s video had a smile as big as Osterlund’s, and a park visitor on a bench even gave him a high five after the proposal.
Osterlund and her date seemed to get along in the video, but their possible love story may already be over.
Osterlund admitted in the comments section of one of her videos that the proposal was her idea, but he bought the ring himself
Osterlund was actively engaging with the comments TikTokers left on the videos she posted yesterday, especially the ones that wrote about her and her Hinge date’s prank.
According to the TikTok user, her Hinge date lives on the other side of the country.
“My husband actually lives in San Diego so I may never see him again which makes it even crazier,” she wrote in a comment section yesterday.
One person commenting on the proposal video even asked Osterlund how many times her date has done this, to which she said “probably never.”
Osterlund also revealed that he bought the ring himself, but she wasn’t sure where he got it.
Several TikTokers commenting on the videos congratulated her on what they assumed was a real engagement.
A few TikTokers were hoping that Osterlund and her unknown date were still dating. However, she confirmed that he lives in California and will probably not see him again
“That’s such a healing first kiss. You have the mental preparation and it’s also stupid and wacky,” one commenter wrote in her proposal video.
TikTokers barely wrote about being a Hinge date, but one person wanted to find a successful relationship on the dating app.
“This makes me want to go back to Hinge so I can find someone to do this with,” the commenter wrote.
Other users praised the proposal in her three TikTok videos she posted yesterday, and one person even wished Osterlund and her fake fiancé had “a long-term, thriving relationship.”
