Urangan hit-and-run: Woman is killed – as Ford Falcon driver speaks to police

A woman has died after being hit by a car in a suspected collision.

The incident happened around midnight on Sunday at the corner of Boundary Road and Elizabeth Street, in Urangan, on the Sunshine Coast.

Queensland Police said the woman, in her 40s, was walking on Boundry Road when she was struck and killed by a silver Ford Falcon.

Paramedics rushed to the scene, but she could not be saved.

After the collision, a search was launched for a 41-year-old man.

Police provided an update on Sunday morning indicating that the driver had been found and that he was “assisting with their investigation.”

No charges have been filed.

“Boundary Road, between Stringbark Street and Booral Road, is currently closed while the police investigation is ongoing,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

A crime scene has been established between Stringybark Drive and Booral Road, with that part of the road closed until further notice.
