EXCLUSIVE
A 31-year-old woman who was killed by a freight train after jumping onto the tracks to retrieve her phone was a mother of young boys, Daily Mail Australia can reveal.
Mandy Bellamy and her partner Aroulen Chinnien, 25, were standing on the platform at Berowra train station, in Sydney’s northern suburbs, around midnight on Friday when they started arguing.
During the fight, Mr Chinnien, who went by the nickname ‘Vin’, grabbed Ms Bellamy’s phone from her hands and threw it onto the tracks.
As she went to retrieve her phone, Mr Chinnien realized a freight train was coming and jumped down to save her.
Both were tragically struck and died on the spot.

Daily Mail Australia can reveal Ms Bellamy was a local Hawkesbury resident who grew up in the area. In her teens she attended both Asquith Girls High School in Sydney and Henry Kendall High School in Gosford.
Daily Mail Australia understands Ms Bellamy’s sons live on the highway.
Mr Chinnien was also from the area and the accident took place just meters away from his parental home, where he lived with his parents.
A local resident, who did not want to be identified, said he was shocked by the tragic news.
She said she was Mrs. Bellamy’s neighbor years ago.
“Her kids used to play with my kids,” she said.
“I found out in the pub last week.”
Ms Bellamy has faced legal troubles in recent months after being accused of domestic violence against an adult family member several times in 2023.
One such incident resulted in Ms Bellamy being given an 18-month community corrections order – in force at the time of her death – after she pleaded guilty to breaching an AVO.
No domestic violence legal matters have been entered into the legal system in relation to Ms Bellamy and Mr Chinnien and it remains unclear whether any such reports were ever made to police.

It is understood that the couple had only recently started dating.
Devastated loved ones have left bouquets of flowers and notes along the walkway leading to the train station as a makeshift memorial for the young mother.
One sign read, “We all love and miss you so much already,” while another read, “Gone but never forgotten.”
Meanwhile, other friends and family members have shared touching messages online.
“Rest in peace my beautiful cousin,” wrote Helen Watts.
“You deserved so much better than this.”
“Rest in peace, my No. 1 photographer,” said friend Jack Dimmock.
‘You will forever have a place in my heart. Enjoy all the food and drinks up there and try to save some for me.”
Chinnien’s cousin, Rajagopalen Aroomougum Carpanen, said he remembered holding him on his lap as a baby.
Locals say they are still struggling to understand what happened at the train station (pictured) last week
Mandy’s relatives have created a memorial at the train station with bouquets of flowers, candles and notes
One bouquet read: ‘To Mandy. We all love you.’
“You have a special place in my heart that I can’t really describe in words. Together we created beautiful memories; Whether it was before you went abroad or the time you were on holiday in Mauritius,” he said.
‘Moments in time that will forever be a part of me.
“Rest in peace Aroulen, my adorable cousin.”
A week later, local residents are still coming to terms with the tragedy, which has rocked the community of Berowra, which has a population of just over 4,700.
“No one really wants to talk about it,” one man told Daily Mail Australia.
‘What happened was so terrible. I still think it’s very raw.’
The tragedy is being treated as a case of misadventure, with officers from the Kuring Gai Police Area Command investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
