Woman kidnapped by convicted paedophile is found still wrapped up with the padlock and chain he used to imprison her after miraculously escaping his lair

A convicted pedophile has been arrested in Spain for attempted kidnapping after a woman turned up at a local hospital with a padlock and chain around her neck.
Doctors in the town of Miranda de Ebro were stunned when the woman walked into Santiago Apóstol hospital with a bruised face.
A chain and two padlocks were secured around her neck and hands, and she explained that she had escaped a kidnapper.
The 40-year-old woman, who has not been named, told police she had previously been to hospital to visit a sick friend.
While she was gone, she said the man offered her a ride home, but along the way he said he had to stop at his house to pick up some belongings.

He then allegedly gained her trust and invited her in, but after closing the front door he knocked her unconscious.
The woman said that when she regained consciousness, the man had a chain around her neck and was trying to strangle her, hitting and insulting her.
He then locked her hands with another chain to prevent his victim from fighting back and preventing her from escaping.
According to local reports, the woman had known the 57-year-old man, identified only as JMG, for some time.
In her police report, the woman says she managed to escape through a window when the man became distracted and fled to relatives who then took her to the hospital.

Shortly after the man was identified, authorities were alerted to the woman’s ordeal.
Now police have confirmed that a 57-year-old man has been arrested. He has not yet been named by Spanish authorities or media.
They added that he had previously been convicted of kidnapping and abusing a nine-year-old girl in Burgalesa in December 2015.
The Miranda Policia Nacional’s Family and Domestic Violence Unit is now investigating the case and treating it as an incident of gender-based sexual violence, the English-language Spanish news outlet said Olive press.
