Bride labeled ‘tacky’ after choosing see-through wedding dress despite her mother’s request for modesty: ‘It’s my day, not hers’

A young woman has been criticized after she shared a video of her trying on a see-through wedding dress before targeting “moms” who demand their daughters wear prom dresses.

The woman modeled the dress on camera and even pretended to walk down the aisle like she would on her big day.

She joked that her mom “would only like her in a ballgown,” but that it’s her day and she’ll wear whatever she wants.

But people claimed that the stunning redhead should “listen to her mother.”

Some said the dress looked dowdy and others said it needed a slip underneath.

The unconventional dress of lace and tulle is sheer from the thighs down, features a plunging sweetheart neckline and a fitted bodice.

“It would look more elegant if it had a liner,” one captioned the video.

“To each their own, but that dress is not for me,” added another.

Not Mother’s Day. My mom tried to pull all sorts of pranks after backing out for two weeks because I didn’t want my day to be what she wanted. Tidy is tidy,’ said another.

‘Definitely the choice of the bride. But don’t be upset if the bride’s mother doesn’t pay. Choices have consequences in all things. Make sure you can afford it yourself if your mom doesn’t agree,” another commented.

“I’m so sick of dresses that look like lingerie,” added another.

While one person said ‘whoever pays for the dress deserves to have their opinion heard’.

Others accused those who said it needs a liner as “boomers.”

“Just because you want to hide doesn’t mean we do too. Mind your business,” she added.

Many brides-to-be also added their own experiences.

‘My mother is not happy that I have two dresses! But it’s not her wedding!’ said one.

My mom said, “You know you can see your legs through that dress.” And I said “it’s going to be 80 degrees [27C] and I wear a thick bodice. That my legs can breathe freely is the best,” said another.

The video was posted by Virginia Bridal Boutique. The redhead appeared to be a model reenacting a previous customer’s purchase and their mother’s displeasure.
