A woman was left ‘horribly’ injured after being attacked by a dog while delivering parcels.

Sarah Bound, a 39-year-old courier for Evri, was delivering a parcel to a house in Bridgend when the dog attacked her, biting her several times.

She was then rushed to hospital, where she was given a tetanus shot and antibiotics.

Mrs Bound said: ‘I really felt like I was in a film… it was absolutely horrible and the pain was ridiculous.’

The horrific ordeal left the Evri courier with three stab wounds, scars and bruises.

She said, ‘The owner came around the corner to look because I assume she heard me screaming.

When she came to, she said, “It’s okay, she won’t bite you.” The dog bit me a few times.

‘I was stuck in the doorway as he jumped on me and he bit me a few times.

“The owner then called her so she left me but she tried to come back when the owner grabbed her.”

The courier from Evri was left with three stab wounds, scars and bruises from this terrible experience.

“After four days I still have stabbing pains in my arms and they are still bleeding,” she said.

Mrs Bound is also convinced that the attack has had a lasting impact on her.

She said, ‘It’s weird, I deal with dogs every day and I’ve never been afraid of them, but now I’m not so sure anymore, it really makes you question it.’

Mrs Bound said: 'I didn't challenge the dog. I didn't even knock on the door but he was ready when he saw me. 'I've dropped him off at the house a few times and he usually stands inside the window and I always get a fright when he barks and he's quite aggressive through the window'

The dog's owner has had no contact with Ms Bound since the attack. She said: 'I don't think that's right. I hope that changes because this can't happen to anyone else'

“I’ve been thinking about it, what if it was a child, what if the owner hadn’t shown up? It’s a very strange situation and my friends and partner tell me it’s not right.”

She added that she didn’t blame the dog or the owner, but that she didn’t want anyone else to go through this “horrible experience.”

‘I’ve delivered to our house a few times and he usually sits inside the window. I always get scared when he barks and he’s quite aggressive when he runs through the window.’

The dog’s owner has had no contact with Ms Bound since the attack. She said: ‘I don’t think that’s right. I hope that changes because this can’t happen to anyone else.’

South Wales Police say the investigation is ongoing.

A spokesman said: ‘South Wales Police were called at approximately 1.20pm on Monday 15 July to reports that a 39-year-old woman had been bitten by a dog on the A4063, Coytrahen, Bridgend.

“The incident is still under investigation.”

Mrs Bound hopes to make a full recovery before her 40th birthday next week and hopes to return to work delivering parcels as soon as possible.
