Woman gives birth inside McDonald’s bathroom names baby Little Nugget

A woman went into labor in a McDonald’s bathroom in Atlanta, Georgia, while her fiancé and three employees of the fast food chain rallied to help deliver.

The bouncing baby, named Nandi Ariyah Moremi Phillips, arrived healthy and was nicknamed “Little Nugget” by parents who called the ordeal a “Thanksgiving blessing.” 11 Living News reported.

Alanria Worthy started feeling contractions around 3am on Wednesday. She thought she would be “pushing for hours” and put off going to the hospital.

But by 7:30am her contractions were coming on stronger and faster – about a minute and a half apart – and she knew ‘it was time’.

While the pair made their way to the hospital – about 45 minutes away from the Airbnb they were staying at, having just moved to the area – Worthy had to make a quick toilet stop.

When her fiancé, Deandra Phillips, stopped at the nearest McDonald’s, the quick bathroom stop turned into a full-blown labor.

Worthy said her water broke and then everything happened so fast. That’s when she started yelling from the bathrooms to warn workers outside, “I’m in labor.” Somebody get the man in the car,’ she said.

General Manager Tunisia Woodward said she thought someone was joking, but when she walked into the bathroom and saw the woman lying on the toilet screaming, she knew it wasn’t a joke.

‘I knew I had to tell my crew; we’re having a baby today,” Woodward said.

Woodward and her two colleagues, Sha’querria Kaigler and Keisha Blue-Murray, quickly turned into delivery nurses.

While Kaigler called 911, Blue-Murray assisted Worthy’s fiancée, Deandra Phillips, who ran into the McDonald’s to find the mother-to-be screaming on “the restroom.”

Phillips, who described her as “delirious,” tried to calm her down by telling her to breathe. Because all three employees were able to help the miracle of birth.

Three pushes later, baby Nandi, also called Little Nugget, arrived.

Phillips said “she lunged at my hand.”

The doting father called it “divine intervention,” which brought him to McDonalds and the help of the three McDonald’s employees.

Steve Akinboro, the owner of the local McDonald’s, was delighted with his employees’ good deed and gave them each a $250 gift card to help with their Thanksgiving dinner.

“We don’t just serve food, we strive to serve feel-good moments every day, and this was basically the epitome of a feel-good moment for my team,” said Akinboro.

He added, “These three local Atlanta employees are a fantastic example of how our crew makes a difference to our customers and local communities.”

The new parents, Alanria and Deandre Phillips, were over the moon.

They said both mother and daughter, Nandi Ariyah Morémi Phillips, are healthy.

Worthy added: “Life is great right now, I never thought I would ever give birth to my own baby.”
