Woman flooded with praise after dishing on all the phrases you should NEVER say to a new mom
A woman has been showered with praise after saying all the statements you should never say to a new mother.
Madison Barbosa, from Houston, Texas, has two children – Rose, two, and Beckham, 14 months – with 34-year-old husband David.
In a recent TikTok video, which has been viewed over 435,000 times so far, the 29-year-old opened up about unnecessary things people say to new mothers that they should keep to themselves.
Her biggest complaint is when strangers give her husband a “trophy” just for being a father – despite her receiving no additional recognition.

In a recent TikTok video, which has racked up over 435,000 views to date, the 29-year-old spoke about unnecessary things people say to new mothers that they should really keep to themselves
Madison says that “less than five minutes after giving birth,” she was told her baby looked “just like” David, leaving her furious.
‘When you hear that a baby looks ‘just like daddy’ after an intensive delivery, it can seem very dismissive.
“Say the baby is beautiful – it’s like dad gets a participation trophy and honor, but mom doesn’t, while mom is the one who just sacrificed her body for nine months.
“When you say, ‘Oh, the baby looks just like daddy,’ you’re simultaneously saying, ‘Baby doesn’t look like mommy.’
‘Do I think people find it mean or hurtful? No. But the point is that it can be done.’
Madison also mentioned other things on her no-no list, including people telling mothers to “sleep when the baby sleeps,” or asking if they planned to have more children.
‘To hear “are you going to have more” when you’re newly postpartum can be upsetting, for lack of better words.
“You try to focus on healing your own body and taking care of this little person. The idea of having more is not high on the priority list. People should actually avoid that question at all costs.’

Madison says many other moms share advice with her and often share warnings that as a new mom she doesn’t want to hear.
She admitted, “You just want to feel validated. (Hearing) “Oh, just wait until they’re a toddler” is not only dismissive, but it can feel isolating.
‘When a mother vents, it’s usually because she’s at her wits’ end and just needs an ear.
“As a mom who is newly postpartum, it can be intimidating to have all the housework on your shoulders and now have to take care of this little person.
‘It can (also) seem dismissive if you constantly hear ‘sleep when the baby sleeps’, or as if you are doing something wrong because you simply cannot.
‘People just have to agree that the newborn phase is demanding and that the new mother’s feelings are valid.
“Tell them to rest when they can!”

Someone else wrote: ‘Why wouldn’t you want your baby to look like your husband?’
Another user said: ‘The ‘wait for it’ comments are the WORST.’
