A woman has been accused of biting two police officers who responded to reports of a house fire at an address on Mitchie Crescent, South Hedland, just after 1am on Friday
The incident also involved a dog, which left another officer with minor injuries.
The woman has been hit with three charges of assaulting a public official and one charge of obstructing a public official and will appear at South Hedland Magistrates Court on February 28.
There were probably several people in the home when the fire broke out.
When emergency services arrived on scene, the building was completely flooded and the fire is not considered suspicious.
It comes as the streets were rocked by a horrific domestic violence incident in August last year.
Police were called to a home in Mitchie Crescent after reports that a 41-year-old woman had multiple stab wounds.
She was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The woman’s partner, 45, was found dead near an abandoned church next door. It is clear that he committed suicide.
Witnesses posted on Facebook that they encountered the gruesome scene shortly after the event.
“Their bodies were on the ground,” they said. “He was standing outside on the grass, in full view.”
Another officer was attacked by a dog and suffered minor injuries, while a fourth had sand thrown in the eyes by the 43-year-old woman
