Woman tells court of her ‘disgust’ after ex-Spandau Ballet singer Ross William Wild, 36, ‘filmed himself sexually assaulting her as she slept’

A woman told a court of her ‘horror’ at discovering former Spandau Ballet singer Ross William Wild had ‘filmed himself sexually assaulting her while she slept’.

The 36-year-old, whose real name is Ross Davidson, wanted sex up to six times a night and forced himself on women who refused him, it is claimed.

He is accused of a series of sexual offenses against five women and the rape of three of them over a decade between 2013 and 2023.

Jurors heard the Scot was ‘a bit of a sex symbol’ after starring in the West End musical ‘We Will Rock You’ a decade ago and becoming lead singer of Spandau Ballet in 2018.

But the accuser claims Davidson had “a dark side” and “expected to be given sex on demand.”

Wood Green Crown Court heard how the singer had ‘a kink’ for wanting to have sex with sleeping women and was said to have filmed himself fondling women as they slept, while also enjoying role-playing rape scenarios.

On Monday, jurors watched a taped interview the second alleged victim gave to police. Davidson is accused of filming himself touching the woman’s breast while she slept.

Explaining the alleged assault to jurors, prosecutor Richard Hearnden said the video lasts about a minute and a half: “She is wearing a blue choker around her neck but is otherwise unclothed.”

‘The camera focuses on the chest for a while and gets closer and closer until it fills the entire screen.

Then a man’s hand appears and squeezes the woman’s breast, rubbing the nipple with his index finger.’

Asked by a police officer about the video, the woman said: ‘It disgusts me.

“I remember him (Davidson) confessing to me his fantasy of sleeping with someone who is sleeping and waking up during an orgasm, which is really self-centered.”

She said she had used drugs before the video was made.

‘I’m a light sleeper. I don’t remember, so I know I was on drugs and didn’t want to be sober.’

She told the court they had smoked joints together.

She said this as Davidson texted her while he was at the Cannes Film Festival.

‘He insulted me. He said I was like a hairy monkey.

‘I had a lot of panic attacks, about three times a day. My friends didn’t recognize me. I was like a ghost.’

Charlotte Newell QC, defending Davidson, asked the woman if she knew Davidson had ADHD.

She said, “He told me. He has a busy mind. I didn’t have all the information. At that moment it felt like he didn’t have much patience.’

Davidson, from Finchley, north London, denies three charges of rape, three charges of sexual assault, one charge of voyeurism, one charge of intimidation and one charge of controlling behavior, between 2013 and 2023.

He replaced Tony Hadley as lead singer of Spandau Ballet in 2018 after playing Elvis Presley in the hit West End musical Million Dollar Quartet, alongside the band’s bassist Martin Kemp.

The process continues.
