Woman charged with murder of three-month-old baby at Redland Bay 12 years ago

A woman has been charged with the murder of a girl in Queensland more than 12 years ago.

The charges come after police went to a home in Redland Bay, 35km southeast of Brisbane, on September 2, 2011, and found a three-month-old child not breathing.

The girl was taken to hospital, where she died four days later.

The death was investigated at the time with no resolution.

Police received further information about the case in January and resumed the investigation with the involvement of detectives from the Bayside Child Protection Investigation Unit (CPIU) and the Crime and Intelligence Command Child Trauma Unit.

On Friday, a 30-year-old woman was arrested in the Kingston suburb of Logan and charged with one count of domestic violence murder.

Police have refused her bail and she will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Saturday.
