A pub has ruled out a woman who has named and disgraced them on social media after parting with £21 for a deplorable-looking Sunday dinner.

Katie Lou posted a photo of her rolled up pork belly takeaway from Hope and Union in Stockton, Teesside, calling it “cold” and “very chewy.”

The mother paid £20.83 for the meal through Uber Eats on Sunday, October 23 and when it arrived she said it was a very small portion and freezing cold.

After reaching out to the pub to complain, Katie later shared a photo of the bland meal on social media and has since been told she had no access to the property.

Posting about her meal Katie said ‘Smoking with this dinner! The pork has more fat than me.

“Yes, it’s pork belly and it must have fat on it, but it was very chewy, there’s more fat than meat and everything was cold.

‘Never again – I’d rather starve to be honest! Don’t get me started on the portion size!’

Hope and Union told Katie, “We’re not going to get into this, it’s unfortunate. Our track record of customer service speaks for itself – so should your behavior and actions to date.”

The pub later added: ‘Your (sic) blocked.’

The Hope and Union was recently listed in The Guardian’s top 30 places for Sunday lunch, as one of only three locations in the Northeast to make the list.

The listing describes the pub as ‘an unassuming pub in an unassuming place’ [that] beats way above its weight’.
