Woman, 24, reveals shocking reason she was ‘banned for life by American Airlines’

A young woman who was denied boarding on an American Airlines flight shared the unexpected reason her name ended up on the airline’s no-fly list.

Erin Wright, 24, claimed in a TikTok post that when she tried to check in for an American Airlines flight to New Orleans in June, she was told the airline had banned her.

She said she was charged $1,400 for another flight and was stunned weeks later when American Airlines finally told her why she was blacklisted.

Wright claimed the airline informed her she was banned from flying because she had “sex with a man on a flight while intoxicated,” which came as a huge surprise.

“I’m a 24-year-old lesbian. Do you see me? Do I have sexual relations with any man? No,” Wright said in the clip.

Wright said she couldn’t check in for her sister’s bachelorette party flight using her phone, so she went to the airport and tried to check in there.

She explained that after speaking with the gate agent, the employee eventually told her that she was banned from flying with the airline, but she wouldn’t say why.

“I was like, ‘What?’ because I’ve never done anything. What am I banned for, can you tell me?” Wright said.

‘[The gate agent] was like, ‘I’m really sorry, it’s an internal security issue. I can’t tell you, but the person on the phone told me you need to know why.’

Wright said she was stunned and called customer service, but customer service wouldn’t say exactly why she was banned.

She said that in her search for answers, she was directed to a customer relations email address.

Wright claimed she had no choice but to spend an additional $1,000 on a flight with another airline and was initially denied a refund for the $400 she had already spent on the American Airlines ticket.

“I am very frustrated and have to wait another eight hours at the airport for my other flight,” she said.

Wright said she had to jump through many hoops to finally get an answer as to why she was not allowed to fly, but she eventually got an explanation.

“I ended up getting an email from company security saying I had been banned for having sexual relations with a man on an airplane while I was drunk,” Wright said.

‘It took 12 days and quite a few emails between the time I contacted customer service and the time I actually got an email back.’

She remained on the no-fly list and had to file an official appeal.

“I send them a very serious email, but also a little funny because I say something like, ‘I don’t really know how to prove it wasn’t me other than I’m literally a lesbian,’” Wright said.

“I can send you letters from other people telling you it’s the truth.”

Three months later, Wright said, her mother contacted American Airlines’ legal department, which eventually removed her from the list and refunded her $400 for the original flight.
