A woman has told a horrific story that ended in heartbreak. She recalled how she discovered her then-boyfriend had been cheating for seconds before he got down on one knee to propose to her.
Tiffany Maldonado, 42, took to TikTok to revisit the shocking way she found out that a previous ex had a mistress for much of their two-year relationship, explaining how she found out about text messages from the other woman stumbled upon it while she was filming footage of him proposing.
Early in her story, Tiffany recalled how serious her relationship had been before it crumbled for her, explaining, “I was madly in love with this man. I was in over my head.
“If he said ‘jump,’ I’d say, ‘How high?’
Tiffany Maldonado, 42, shared the shocking way she found out her boyfriend of two years had been cheating on her and made the discovery while he was proposing to her
‘I was madly in love with this man. “I was in over my head,” she admitted of her former flame
One day, she said, he took her on a “surprise trip” to Orlando “for a little fun at the theme parks.”
At the park, he decided to ‘register’ for a game show-style competition that took place in a stadium full of other visitors.
Just before the match started, he handed Tiffany his cell phone and asked her to film him, adding, “I want you to see what’s going to happen.” And I just say, ‘Oh my god, this is so cute. How nice.'”
The man went on to win the match.
‘And I’m filming from his mobile phone that I had to hold. So here I am filming with his little cell phone. All excited, all proud of my husband,” Tiffany continued.
But moments later it all came crashing down when Tiffany saw a series of text messages pop up on his screen.
It quickly became clear that they belonged to a mistress, and Tiffany added: “She’s angry. She’s really angry.
“I think he texted her that morning to let her know, ‘Hey, it’s over between us because I’m getting engaged today.’ And she threw very well, even though she was married herself.’
“My heart absolutely drops and I feel like I want to throw up. And I’m sitting here in a crowd, with hundreds of people, maybe even thousands of people, trying to keep my hand still and film what’s happening as he introduces it and announces it to this whole damn stadium full of people.
“But I really know what’s happening as I see these lyrics flash across the screen.”
Suddenly, the boyfriend dropped to one knee to propose, and before Tiffany knew the couple had appeared on the big screen for the entire stadium to see.
As her then-boyfriend knelt down to pop the question, Tiffany, who was filming the moment on his phone, also saw text messages from his mistress appear.
Tiffany admitted that because she had “invested” so much in the relationship, it took two to three months after the proposal before she ended things for good.
At the same time, Tiffany was still filming with his phone and kept seeing text messages from the mistress.
“I’m not the type of girl who likes it when people see me sweating,” she said.
Tiffany then said she decided to “keep my composure and just walk out of the stadium and wait for him outside.”
When he found her again, “he immediately gives me a huge hug and tells me he loves me. And of course the proposal ends up in my face again this time, and not just on the big screen.’
As quickly as possible, Tiffany sent him to the “nearest restaurant” and told him what she had seen through his texts.
“He knew he had been caught and for the next thirty minutes he told me everything he thought I wanted to hear, and I was just numb,” Tiffany admitted.
“The only words I can think of right now are, ‘Honey, this two-carat diamond ring. It’s just not going to be enough.’
In a video from part twoTiffany went on to explain that while she didn’t immediately break things off with the man, they “drove home in awkward silence that day.” I was completely paralyzed.’
She further admitted that although she didn’t initially tell her friends or even her sister about the engagement, they bombarded her with questions when they noticed she was wearing the diamond ring.
“I had invested so much in this relationship that it was very difficult to immediately break it off,” she said.
“Again, we’re human, and I’m not messy. So I really tried.”
She explained that it ultimately took two to three months after his proposal before everything finally “fell apart” for good.
“He would never regain my trust,” Tiffany said.
“And it took about two years and $10,000 of therapy before I was finally okay with myself again.”
