Woman, 22, undergoing buttock augmentation surgery dies ‘within ten minutes’ after anesthesia by ‘unqualified’ beautician in Russia
- Mika Shabasova underwent the procedure at “home surgery” by beautician Uma M
- The ‘unqualified’ beautician offered the operation after a two-week course
Russian police are investigating the sudden death of a 22-year-old woman during buttock augmentation surgery by an ‘unqualified’ beautician who was her ‘boyfriend’.
Mika Shabasova reportedly died “ten minutes after receiving local anesthesia” for the procedure.
She was dead before an ambulance arrived at beautician Uma M’s ‘home surgery’, who is now under house arrest.
The beautician offered the £154 procedure after taking a ‘two-week course’, reports say.
She told state detectives in Makhachkala that she had repeatedly numbed the victim’s skin with lidocaine, a local anesthetic.

She had asked Shabasova if she had any allergies, she said.
The beautician is described as a former waitress who was unlicensed in cosmetic surgery but was still performing “lip, cheek and butt augmentations.”
“The cause of death will be determined by a forensic medical examination,” media outlet 112 reported.
The Russian Commission of Inquiry said: ‘A 22-year-old resident of Makhachkala died on the spot after being administered an anesthetic while visiting her friend, who is undergoing cosmetic procedures.
“All circumstances of the incident are currently being determined.”
A friend of the deceased woman said he had urged Shabasova not to undergo the buttocks procedure advertised by the Uma M.
“The beautician who is supposed to perform the surgery has only recently been certified,” he said.
“She completed a two-week course and became a beautician. Before that she did eyelash extensions.’

Mika reportedly went out of ‘trust’ with Uma before the surgery because they were friends

Yet reports said she was not licensed for such cosmetic surgery.
The friend said, “Mika went to her because Uma is her friend, purely out of trust.”
Three days before the operation, she had a fever and was off work.
“She lived in an apartment with three girls – they all tried to persuade her not to go to this beautician.”
He said the woman “secretly, when everyone was home, just left the house, called a taxi and went to this operation.”
She had previously had lip, nose, and chin procedures.
“These were with different anesthesia. But she was gone within fifteen minutes.’
Police questioned her friends, he said.
