Zoe Wynns, who studies music and English at the University of North Carolina, took to Instagram to encourage people to stream her music so she wouldn't have to work in a traditional role.

She explained that she wouldn't be a good fit for certain careers because she “starts crying” if she has “more than three non-creative tasks to do in a day.”

In the original clip, which recently resurfaced, Zoe is seen sitting in her car with her arms crossed.

She begins, “I can't do 9 to 5. I know this is going to sound spoiled. I know this is going to sound like an artsy creative who just doesn't want to put in the hard work and hours, but I physically don't think I can do it.

“I start crying when I have to do more than three non-creative tasks in a day and imagine having to do something I don't really enjoy for eight hours a day for the rest of my life…”

Zoe continues: 'There is no other option. This must work.

'This is going to sound even more artsy and arrogant, but I heard this quote on a show once and it said, “People like us can't live normal lives, if we try we'll be devastated.”

“And honestly, I put myself in that category because I think I'm just going to die.”

The content creator concludes by urging her followers to stream her music to help her “in the process of literally not dying.”

It has been viewed over 220,000 times so far and has been flooded with comments that have not wavered.

Another added: “It gives rich parents.”

And a third simply wondered: 'Is this a joke?'

Zoe has since shared it Business insider that she was inspired to make the video because many of her friends were pushed to take the “safe route” of getting a job instead of pursuing their creative passions.

She said: 'I wanted to make a video about how I had so much creative passion, and I really didn't want to do what the system says we should do – the 40 hours a week…

'You can rise through the ranks of a company, but there is more of a ceiling. When you work for yourself, in theory there is no ceiling. You could be the next Billie Eilish tomorrow.”

Reflecting on the wider negative reaction, she said: 'I could have phrased things differently, but I'm a 20-year-old student trying to chase my dreams, and I wish that was understood a little better. .

“I'm even more steeled now because I have to prove thousands of people wrong.”
