Woman, 18, is shot dead outside Delaware State University dorm
- The woman has not yet been identified, but she was not a suspect at the university
- Police are searching for the gunman after he was called to campus at 1:40 a.m
An 18-year-old woman was shot and killed outside a Delaware State University dorm early Sunday morning.
Dover police were called to campus just after 1:40 a.m. for reports of shots fired in the Warren-Franklin Hall area.
They found the victim, a Wilmington woman who has not yet been named, with a gunshot wound to her upper torso and she was rushed to Bayhealth Medical Center but died.
The victim was not a registered student at the university and no other injuries were reported.
Delaware State University said, “DSU police and staff will continue to take all necessary measures to ensure the health and well-being of our campus community.

‘The campus is closed today, events have been canceled and police patrols have been increased. No visitors are allowed today.”
