- The alleged victim filed a complaint Friday evening hours after the reported incident
Wolves have released a statement on social media denying that two of their players are the Premier League stars arrested for rape.
Two unnamed footballers, who are both 19 years old and play for the same club, were arrested this weekend after the alleged victim filed a police report.
The incident is said to have taken place on Friday evening, after which the victim’s complaint was filed hours later.
One player was reportedly confronted by police on suspicion of assault and complicity in a rape at his club’s stadium, before being formally arrested and held overnight.
The second player was arrested the next day and questioned on charges of rape. Both players have now been released on bail pending further investigation.

The Midlands side have become the first to break their silence since news of the arrests emerged on Tuesday evening, saying they were making a statement over concerns over ‘player welfare’.
“A newspaper article published yesterday has sparked inappropriate online speculation about the identities of two individuals reportedly under investigation,” the statement said.
‘While we do not normally comment on ongoing police matters, in order to protect the welfare of our young players we feel it is necessary to confirm that the allegations do not relate to anyone at Wolves.’
Both players have now been suspended by their club while the investigation is ongoing.
A police statement following the news confirmed: ‘Officers have arrested two men following a report of a rape.
The club’s statement emphasized that it was issued due to concerns for the “welfare of the players.”
‘A 19-year-old man was arrested on Saturday (April 20) on suspicion of assault and complicity in rape. A second 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape on Sunday (April 21).
‘Both men have now been released on police bail.’
The club’s spokesperson stressed that the club would make ‘no further comment at this stage’.
