Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves has spoken of a move to Camp Nou in the future, admitting: ‘Who wouldn’t want to play for Barcelona?’
Neves has been heavily linked with a move to the Spanish giants in recent weeks, with Wolves worrying about the future of their key man as he approaches the final year of his contract with Molineux.
But the playmaker has done nothing to quell rumors that he may have a connection with Xavi when asked if he was interested in a transfer.

Speak with Channel 11he said it was a “privilege” to be linked to the LaLiga giants.
‘Who wouldn’t want to try Barcelona?’ he said. “I think it’s a common question for all players. It is one of the largest clubs in the world. Of course it is always a privilege for me to be associated with clubs of this caliber.
‘I’m going to do my job here’ [at Wolves] and I’m sure I have people who work with me. I trust these people a lot for these situations. I need to focus on Wolves as much as possible. Having a good time here, it comes naturally.’
Neves has been one of Wolves’ best players this season, despite their struggle as they remain in the relegation zone – scoring twice for the team so far.
It comes after reports that Barcelona are looking for an ‘Edgar Davids-like player’ in January and Xavi to further strengthen their squad after heavy summer investments.
Neves – who was one of Wolves’ best players this season – sees his contract expire in 2024
Barca spent around £150m on the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Jules Koude, Raphinha, Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessie, signings seen as the injection of quality Xavi needed to propel the Catalans back to the top of European football.
And now they would be looking for an aggressive midfielder who can quickly impress – in the same way Davids did when he flourished on loan for six months at the Camp Nou in January 2004.
Neves is one of Barcelona’s main targets, with agent Jorge Mendes reportedly offering his client to Xavi, and while Wolves estimates him to be around £40million, there is hope a loan deal could be struck in the new year , including an obligation to buy clause for next summer.
Leicester ace Youri Tielemans is another target for Nou Camp officials, according to Mundo Deportivo’s report. The Belgian, who has the physical strength to match Davids, will not be contracted with King Power in 2023, meaning Barca can land him cheaply in January.
