Wolves are getting closer to completing the signing of Joao Gomes, with the Flamengo midfielder due to undergo his medical early next week.

Gomes’ medical has been scheduled, and the transfer is set to conclude before Tuesday’s deadline.

Despite not turning 22 until next month, Gomes already has 117 appearances for Flamengo, and will give Julen Lopetegui another option in midfield as Wolves look to move away from the relegation zone.

If Wolves get over the line, Gomes could be ready to go straight for his team for their home game against Liverpool next Saturday.

As Gomes prepares to arrive at Molineux, Wolves have sent another player out the door, with Ki-Jana Hoever joining Stoke Championship on loan.

Hoever completed the temporary move on Friday and will remain at the Bet365 Stadium until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old spent the first half of the season at PSV Eindhoven after Bruno Lage decided that was not part of his plans.

He recently returned from the Netherlands, and Lopetegui has also opted to let him leave to gain more minutes at Stoke.
