Wolves secured a double transfer just before Friday’s transfer deadline, giving Gary O’Neil a major boost after a difficult start to the season.

Wolves have lost their opening two league games of the season to Arsenal and Chelsea, conceding eight goals in the process, and O’Neil was keen to bolster his squad before the transfer window closed.

His wish came true when Wolves signed Brazilian midfielder André from Fluminense and Carlos Forbs from Ajax just in time.

André signs a permanent contract for around £20million, while Portuguese winger Forbs joins on a season-long loan.

Last year, André was linked with a move to Liverpool, but ultimately stayed in his home country of Brazil.

He has now made his move to the Premier League, joining Wolves alongside Forbs.

Earlier on deadline day, Wolves completed the £10million transfer of Sam Johnstone from Crystal Palace.

The England goalkeeper lost his top spot at Palace to Dean Henderson but will now provide competition for Jose Sa at Molineux.

Wolves also had to say goodbye to Chiquinho on the final day, who was loaned to Real Mallorca for the rest of the season.

The 24-year-old has made just 11 appearances for Wolves in the past two years and has now moved to Spain to gain more first-team experience.
