- Tottenham close in on the signing of Wolfsburg’s Micky Van de Ven
- However, the Bundesliga side are holding their own for their £43 million valuation of him
- The Spurs are eager for a new defender and are also keen on Edmond Tapsoba
Wolfsburg will keep their £43 million price tag for Tottenham target Micky Van de Ven as negotiations between the clubs continue.
The Dutch U21 star has been on Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou’s radar for some time and had positive talks with the Bundesliga squad last week.
Spurs have offered £30 million plus add-ons for the Dutch U21 star and hoped it would be enough to secure his services.
However, Wolfsburg will look to push Tottenham for the £43 million price tag they have set for the centre-back.
The Spurs were eager to add a defender to their roster this summer and are closely monitoring the situation of Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has overseen the club’s negotiations for Van de Ven
The Leverkusen defender has been on Tottenham’s shortlist all summer but is priced higher than his Dutch counterpart.
Van de Ven, 22, enjoyed a great breakaway in the 2022-23 season, starting 33 Bundesliga games for the Wolves, sparking interest from clubs across Europe.
Liverpool were also reportedly interested in pursuing a deal, but it now appears Tottenham have taken the lead in the race for the Wolfsburg star.
Van de Ven was included in the recent Netherlands U21 squad at the European Championships, where the nation drew all three group stage matches and exited the competition.
Tottenham were keen to expand their defensive options after conceding 63 goals in a disappointing season – most in the top half.
New manager Ange Postecoglou has already seen the difficulties he will face in defense after their 3-2 defeat to West Ham in pre-season.

Meanwhile, Spurs are trying to send outcast Tanguy Ndombele to Turkey after talks with Galatasary about the player.
The French midfielder was loaned to Napoli last season, where he won the Scudetto and played in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
However, after suffering an injury in pre-season and failing to integrate since then, Ndombele’s time at Spurs looks set to finally come to an end.
The Frenchman joined Spurs in 2019 for a record fee of £55 million.
