Woke GPs urge Royal College to cancel ‘gender critical’ event at its headquarters because it has ‘transphobic’ speakers

Woke Medics are calling on Britain’s largest GP organization to cancel a ‘gender critical’ conference at its headquarters because it platforms ‘transphobic’ speakers.

The Clinical Advisory Network on Sex and Gender (CAN-SG) will hold the event at the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) conference center in London next month.

Speakers, including general practitioners, psychiatrists and sociology professors, will discuss “controversies in child care,” including sex-based language in health care and the “effects of gender medicine on gay-attracted youth.”

The College – which represents more than 50,000 members – has said the event is not affiliated with or sanctioned by the college.

But DOctober dismissed the RCGP’s “casual approval” with a warning LGBTQ+ Patients already feel unsafe and have a difficult relationship with the NHS.

A psychotherapist involved in the conference previously controversially claimed that teenagers are transgender patients are fetishists and have also advocated certain efforts to change gender identity.

The Pride RCGP group, an informal network set up to deliver educational programs and Pride events, said the event would undermine the LGBTQ+ community’s trust in general practice.

In a post on , we shouldn’t do that. share a platform with people who invalidate or dehumanize lived experiences of trans/non-binary peers/patients. Our community does not feel safe.”

The Trans Safety Network, a collective formed in 2020 to document evidence of transphobia in Britain, said: ‘It is outrageous that the RCGP is hosting this event, organized by hate groups masquerading as a scientific conference. ‘

The RCGP today said the conference at 30 Euston Square can ‘go ahead’.

A statement said: ‘This is an extremely complex situation in which the RCGP has been inadvertently involved, and we have had intense and extensive discussions over the past few days.

“We understand the concerns and strong feelings this event has raised, especially among our LGBTQ+ community of primary care physicians and patients.

‘The legal considerations are such that the Board would be at risk of being faced with a claim for breach of the Equalities Act if we were to act otherwise.’

It added: ’30ES is the headquarters of the RCGP, as well as an events space run by an independent events company.’

Until last week, former RCGP chairman Dr. Clare Gerada speaking at the event. The reasons for her withdrawal are unknown.

Another, Oxford University sociology professor Michael Biggs, was accused in 2018 of running a troll account that targeted transgender people online.

The account is registered with a Yahoo! email believed to be linked to Professor Biggs’ official email address at the University of Oxford.

In response to the backlash, other GPs called on the RCGP not to cancel the event and allow ‘intolerant’ bullies to ‘intimidate and dictate what others can talk about’.

One wrote on the website of GP magazine Pulse: ‘RGCP, please don’t let these intolerant bullies intimidate and dictate what others can talk about.

“This kind of intimidation is a threat to democracy.”

Another read: ‘It would be completely inappropriate to cancel this event.

‘The care of transgender and interrogated individuals is complex and deserves proper and careful research, especially in the context of caring for children with gender dysphoria.

‘The scientific basis for puberty blockers and children’s transition is highly uncertain and disputed.’

They added: ‘There is nothing transphobic about the CAN-SG organization and there is no reason to use the hyperbole of ‘feeling unsafe’.

‘Pride RCGP should welcome such opportunities to increase the breadth of evidence and maximize the safety of children in their care who may exhibit gender dysphoria.’

A third wrote: ‘As a real queer GP in a 28 year relationship with a transgender person, I feel I can speak with some experience.

“We both believe that legitimate debate on trans issues is indeed being suppressed by fascist trans fanatics who are causing real harm to some young people. Be quick RCGP.”
