WNBA ‘to accomodate’ charter flights this season’ after backlash to Caitlin Clark traveling commercial

The WNBA has initiated talks to allow charter flights for all its teams this season after facing backlash following a sighting of Caitlin Clark and her Indiana Fever teammates traveling commercially.

Clark landed in Dallas, Texas, with her new teammates on Friday ahead of her professional basketball debut against the Wings, which resulted in a 79-76 loss, but the team’s travel arrangements were at the center of the social media discussion. The first overall pick casually flew through Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

However, according to USA Today columnist Christine Brennan, it appears that WNBA players will now receive the same flight arrangements as their NBA counterparts.

She tweeted: “Breaking: I hear the WNBA is in discussions to begin charter trips for all twelve teams as early as this regular season.

‘Why now? The explosion of interest in the league, business growth and expected future revenue from the next media deal.”
