WNBA superstar Brittney Griner agrees Atlanta Dream deal in shock move after 11 years with Phoenix Mercury
After spending her entire WNBA career at the Phoenix Mercury, Brittney Griner decided to change teams and signed at the Atlanta Dream in Free Agency, according to ESPN’s Alexa Philippou and Shams Charania.
Griner was first selected by Phoenix from Baylor in the WNBA design of 2012 and has stayed there since then – a fixed value in the organization.
But now the ten times Wnba All-Star goes to Georgia to play for the dream-with stars such as Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray.
Her decision to draw away from the Mercury comes on the same day that Phoenix has achieved a blockbuster trade.
Earlier in the day, the Mercury acquired all Star Alyssa Thomas from the Connecticut Sun together with Ty Harris in exchange for Natasha Cloud, Rebecca Allen and the overall choice of 2025 nr. 12.
Griner’s services were also taken into consideration with the Las Vegas Aces, according to Ramona Shelburn from ESPN.
But after exchanging Observatory Kelsey Plum to the Seattle Storm in exchange for Guard Jewell Loyd, Las Vegas decided to consider other options.
