Wizards of Waverly Place star David Henrie teases that fans will ‘choke up’ watching the reboot series with Selena Gomez
David Henrie was excited about his on-screen reunion with Selena Gomez during the Wizards of Waverly Place revival production.
The 34-year-old actor heaped praise on his co-star, 31, as he claimed the upcoming Disney show, titled Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, promises to be as special for fans to watch as it is for them to create.
‘It was amazing. We didn’t want it to end. It was amazing,” the actor said USWeekly on Saturday.
David and Selena portrayed siblings Justin and Alex Russo on the Disney sitcom, which concluded its four-year run in 2012.
‘She’s so good. She has such a quick wit, which has only gotten stronger,” he said of the pop star/actress.

The 34-year-old actor praised his costar, 31, as he claimed the upcoming Disney show, titled Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, promises to be as special for fans to watch as it is for them to create.
“We have a few scenes that I think will suffocate the original fan of the original show, and they’re really moving, and they went really well,” he added. “So I’m glad you saw it.”
Fans can also anticipate the return of David DeLuise, who will reprise his role as Jerry Russo, Alex and Justin’s father on the show.
“It was a joy,” David said of filming with Jerry again.
“And we hope to have everyone back for the life of the show, and if it were up to me, as often as possible, because they’re just such a great addition.”
In May, Selena revealed the official title of the new spinoff series Wizards of Waverly Place.
At the ABC and Disney Upfronts event in New York City, the actress said she was “very excited” to announce the revival show’s title: Wizards Beyond Waverly Place.
“Sometimes something magical happens when you get to go home,” she said.
After taking the stage and revealing the title, Disney shared first images from the new show, which was announced earlier this year in January, on Instagram.
The photos featured Selena and David in their roles as brother duo Alex and Justin Russo, respectively.

In January, Disney Branded Television published a pilot order for the new series.
It was revealed that the Love On singer would only appear on the show as a guest star, but would serve as an executive producer.
In Disney’s post, Gomez and Henrie were also seen posing in a group photo with the new leads and the rest of the cast.
The new series stars Janice LeAnn Brown as Billie Russo, Mimi Gianopulos as Giada Russo, Alkaio Thiele as Roman Russo and Max Matenko as Milo Russo.
According to a synopsis from Disney, the new series will “follow an adult Justin Russo, who has chosen to live a normal, mortal life with his family, Giada, Roman and Milo.”
Gomez will reprise her role as Alex when she brings Billie to her brother’s house in search of his help.
The show follows Justin as he “realizes he must dust off his magical skills to guide the wizard-in-training while simultaneously dealing with his daily responsibilities – and securing the future of the Wizarding World.”
