The wise finance boss quits his job so he can take the time to recover from a serious cycling accident
Wise’s finance boss has quit so he can take time to recover from a serious cycling accident.
Matthew Briers will retire from the foreign exchange financial technology company by March 2024.
It comes a few weeks after CEO Kristo Kaarmann announced he would be taking a sabbatical between September and December to spend more time with his newborn son.

Briers, who has been in service for eight years, temporarily stepped aside after the accident last February.
He said: ‘A year ago I returned to work after a pretty horrible accident that left me under the wheels of a bus, and with this in mind my focus will shift to full recovery.’
Wise said the search for a replacement would begin immediately, with Briers staying for a year to ensure a smooth transition.
Analysts at broker Liberum warned that the planned departure of the highly regarded Briers “coinciding with the planned CEO sabbatical threatens to undermine momentum in the company.”
