Wisconsin high school under fire after trans woman,18, exposed genitalia to freshmen girls in shower

An advocacy group is “demanding actions and responses” from a Wisconsin high school after a transgender student reportedly “exposed their male genitalia” to four freshman girls in the locker room showers after a swim lesson.

The Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty (WILL) alleged that the Sun Prairie Area School District issued an “inadequate response” to the alleged incident in March.

It said Sun Prairie East High School administrators “failed to meet basic protections provided by federal law” following a “violation of girls’ privacy in the locker room.”

“The girls were taken aback and shocked, closed their eyes and tried to hurry and leave the showers as quickly as possible,” the indictment said.

It is the latest row to erupt over the use of high school restrooms and locker rooms by transgender students, following incidents in Florida, Iowa and Ontario, Canada.

In a letter to parents on Friday, viewed by DailyMail.com, the high school said that “the district had previously addressed this incident when it was brought to our attention.”

The complaint alleges that on March 3, “four freshman girls participated in a swimming unit as part of their first hour of physical education. After class, the girls entered the women’s athletic locker room to shower and change for class.

As they began showering in their swimsuits, an 18-year-old student, who “identifies as transgender,” entered the shower and said, “I’m trans, by the way.”

The student is said to have stripped naked and “exposed the male genitals to the four girls in the shower.”

Speak against Wisconsin right nowDeputy Counsel Dan Lennington said the girls were 14 years old.

“These are 14-year-old girls, this is an 18-year-old man. We have multiple sources saying this man is 18. The school district has not denied that he was 18 when this happened.”

The legal group alleges that after reports to the administration and communications from parents, school district administrators “failed to meet basic protections provided by federal law.”

It wrote: “Under federal law, the incident should have been reported to the Title IX Coordinator, who should then have contacted the girls, offered supportive measures and given them the opportunity to file a complaint. serve.’

Title IX is a federal civil rights law that prohibits gender discrimination in schools or other educational programs.

According to the complaint, school principal Renee Colman apologized via email to a parent on April 10 “for the incident that took place” and reiterated that the situation the girls experienced “should not have happened.”

It claims Colman wrote that ‘we will continue to work to ensure no one has a similar experience’.

It also claims that the principal emailed a parent a copy of a “Restroom and Locker Room Accessibility Guidance.”

This guideline states, “A student who is transgender, non-binary, or gender-expansive will be allowed access to the segregated restrooms for men and women in accordance with the student’s gender identity that the student regularly asserts at school and in other social settings.”

It adds: ‘If a transgender student makes a request regarding the use of locker rooms or a similar type of changing area, the request will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis with the aim of: (a) facilitating the transgender student’s access to the physical education curriculum. district education and other relevant programs; (b) ensure adequate privacy and security for students; and (c) minimizing stigmatization of the transgender student.’

The alleged incident is the latest in a series of rows over the use of locker rooms by transgender students in several states.

Last October, a Vermont school was ordered to investigate after members of a girls’ volleyball team claimed they were not allowed to use their own locker room and had to change in a single restroom after complaining about a transgender teammate.

Some members alleged that the transgender player at Randolph Union High School made an “inappropriate comment” while they were changing in the locker room.
