Microsoft has set a date to remove the Mail and Calendar applications from Windows 11 at the end of the year, as well as remove the apps from the Microsoft Store. The company will also stop releasing updates or support once the year is over. So if you haven’t switched to Outlook yet, you have until December 31, 2024 to do so.
You might notice that in the coming weeks, a little pop-up will appear when you open the Mail or Calendar app, in an attempt to send you to the Outlook app and give it a try, if you haven’t already have done. Naturally, Windows 11 devices released in 2024 will ship with the updated Outlook app as the default email app, so if you’re on a new machine you’re probably already using Outlook.
You still have the option to ignore the prompt and continue with Mail and Calendar, but only until the end of the year. If you’re still keen to use them, make sure they’re already installed and up to date on whatever device you plan to use them on (such as your home computer, work setup, personal laptop, and so on). on).

Please note that you will no longer receive security updates or bug fixes once the limit point has passed, and there is no guarantee that Microsoft won’t completely remove them soon after.
Users are still hesitant when it comes to embracing Microsoft Outlook, with some eager to get to know the updated interface while others are adamant about not moving away from the familiar Mail and Calendar apps. Either way, it doesn’t seem like you have much of a choice, and if another message pops up from Microsoft encouraging them to switch to their newer software, it might not resonate with users who are already fed up with the whining from Microsoft.
