Wimbledon order of play – Katie Boulter and Jodie Burrage lead British hopes on day three

Katie Boulter and Jodie Burrage lead the British hopes with Wimbledon playing catch-up after just eight games on a soggy day two… and Novak Djokovic will once again take to Center Court

Katie Boulter and Jodie Burrage lead the British hopes on Wednesday as Wimbledon plays catch-up.

Just eight games were completed on Tuesday as the All-England Club was battered by rain and play was for the most part restricted to Center and No 1 Courts only.

With less than 90 minutes of outdoor action possible on day two before the heavens opened, organizers canceled 69 scheduled games.

It means that Wednesday’s order of play is a mix of singles matches in the first and second rounds, with the start of the doubles tournament shifted one day to Thursday.

But the backlog could grow further with some showers forecast on Wednesday amid sunny spells.

Burrage will be first on Center Court at 1.30pm and will face 11th-seeded Daria Kasatkina from Russia.

That will be followed by Iga Swiatek, the number 1 in the series, who takes on Sara Sorribes Tormo and then the reigning men’s champion Novak Djokovic against Jordan Thompson.

There is even more British interest in No 1 Court as Arthur Fery takes a wildcard first round match against Russian third seed Daniil Medvedev at 1pm.

After that, Heather Watson will face tenth-seeded Barbora Krejcikova from the Czech Republic.

Rounding out the Court One schedule is the second-round matchup between Jannik Sinner and Diego Schwartzman.

Boulter was held up by the weather on Tuesday and the British No. 1 resumed her match against Australian Daria Sevilla trailing 6-5 by the end of the first set on court 18.

Another Briton to complete his first round match is George Loffhagen, who had just lost the first set of his tie with Denmark’s Holger Rune on a tiebreak. They are scheduled to finish second at No. 3 Court.

Jan Choinski faces a tough test in the second round against Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz, the 17th seed and former SW19 semifinalist. They arrive last on runway 12.

In women’s singles, another British hopeful, Sonay Kartal, will begin her tournament against American Madison Keys at No 3 Court after the completion of the Loffhagen match.

Andy Murray, who was victorious in his all-British first round match with Ryan Peniston on Center Court, will be keeping a close eye on the match between Stefanos Tsitsipas and Dominic Thiem, which will be played to a finish on No. 2 Court.

Austria’s Thiem took the first set 6-3, but the fifth seed Greek leads in the second.
