Wimbledon fans have ridiculed Emma Raducanu after she was spotted training a day after withdrawing from her doubles match with Andy Murray.
Murray had planned to play his final matches at the tournament with the 21-year-old England star in a highlight of his dazzling career.
However, Raducanu was forced to withdraw from their match against Marcelo Arevalo and Zhang Shuai just hours before the expected kick-off time due to problems with her wrist.
The 2021 US Open winner will face New Zealand’s Lulu Sun in the women’s singles round of 16. On Sunday, she made final preparations for her performance on Centre Court.
Fans have taken to social media to ridicule Raducanu, with some claiming her wrist has “magically healed.”

One said: ‘Her wrist seems fine now…’, while another wrote: ‘Wrist seems okay.’
“That right wrist just magically healed,” a third fan posted on X.
After her withdrawal from the doubles, Raducanu said: ‘Unfortunately I woke up this morning with a stiff right wrist, so I have decided to make the difficult decision to withdraw from the mixed doubles tonight.
“I’m disappointed because I was really looking forward to playing with Andy, but I had to be careful.”
Mail Sport understands Murray is “so disappointed” he will not be able to play for the final time at Wimbledon, where he won the men’s singles title twice – in 2013 and 2016 – and won Olympic gold at London 2012.
Judy Murray described the news in a social media post following Raducanu’s decision as “stunned.”
After the decision was made public, sports presenter Marcus Buckland wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: ‘Astonishing news that Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from her mixed doubles match with Andy Murray. She is citing pain in her right wrist.
‘It means Murray has played his last match at Wimbledon. Oh dear!’
This prompted a response from Andy Murray’s mother, Judy, who wrote: “Yes, amazing.”
Murray, who was knocked out of the men’s doubles with his brother Jamie, insisted after his match on Thursday that there would be no change in his decision to retire, saying: “I know it’s time now. I’m ready.”
He goes on a family holiday before preparing for the last competition of his career, the Olympic Games in Paris, where he will compete in the singles and doubles events with Dan Evans.
Raducanu, meanwhile, must hope the problem does not derail her Wimbledon success, as the 21-year-old will now at least reach the quarter-finals.
